The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of characters living within the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator stated recently. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
